Our Story
From Marketplace to Transformation Partner
Shiftr began in 2020 as Shiftr.Store, a multi-vendor marketplace built to help small businesses sell sustainable products online. But founder Izak du Plessis quickly realised his true passion wasn’t just in online retail — it was in helping businesses optimise their systems.
He found himself advising vendors on how to connect the dots between inventory, finance, and marketing, building smarter processes that saved time and increased impact.
That insight led to a powerful shift in focus: Shiftr.Store became Shiftr.co.za — a consultancy dedicated to helping South African SMEs scale smarter through digital transformation and business optimisation.
The Founder’s Journey
Izak du Plessis — Founder & Head Coach at Shiftr
Izak’s journey began in informatics, the study of systems and process optimisation.He started his career in the environmental and mining sectors, exploring how complex systems interact in real-world conditions.
Later, he transitioned into corporate data analytics and fintech, where he honed his expertise in technology integration, data-driven decision-making, and business process management.
In 2020, he founded Shiftr.Store — which evolved into today’s Shiftr Consulting, aligning his professional experience with his personal passion for helping people and systems work better together.
Now, Izak works in what he calls his ikigai — the intersection of what he loves, what he’s good at, and what creates impact. His focus lies in optimising systems, empowering teams, and driving meaningful transformation for small and medium-sized businesses.
